Slovenia - Day 1: I Feel S-LOVE-nia

After our trip to Malta, we were able to visit another European country this year: The beautiful Slovenia. This small country was part of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia before it became independent in 1991. Today it is a member of the European Union. Slovenia is a travel destination with much diversity, as it offers mountains, culture, castles, history and even access to the Mediterranean Sea. Another reason to visit was that I really loved Croatia, which I visited in 2012 and which is also a former part of Yugoslavia.

We booked an affordable flight with Adria Airways which connects Slovenia´s capital Ljubljana with many other European destinations. The Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport is actually closer to the city of Kranj than to Ljubljana. We arrived in the evening and had chosen to start our two-week-tour through Slovenia in Kranj. We had booked online via booking.com an airport transfer by our hotel in Kranj, the Actum Hotel and after about 15 minutes already reached the hotel.

We chose the Actum Hotel, as it is conveniently located inside the Old Town and also within walking distance to the main bus terminal (Kranj AP) just north of the old town. It is a Boutique Hotel and has interesting designs. Our room for two nights indeed was something different and had a huge bathroom even with a whirlpool (they might have upgraded our room at no extra cost, as I don't remember booking that, which was kind of cool).

We took a short walk to a nearby McDonald's for a (very) late dinner and went to sleep around midnight.
